Murals

My children both attended a parent participation preschool. The director was looking for someone to help make a "tree" in the circle time area. During the interview with the director, upon joining the school, I offered my artistic skills to paint a cartoon-style mural with the disclaimer that I've never done a mural project. In my usual style, the project turned out to be a large one. It took a long time, since I only chipped away at the project a teeny bit at a time (busy mom). However, I'm proud of the results. We went with a farm theme, including "parent participation" farm animals.

I also created a second, smaller mural under the window near the large mural, plus designed a third one that I never ended up painting...ran out of time. (However, I cleaned up the digital version of this unpainted mural. See my sheep and lamb cartoon artwork that I derived from my unused mural design.). I drew the images for the murals in Photoshop, and then my husband borrowed a data projector from work to project the image onto the walls. I carefully traced my design, maintaining its original details, then painted it.

Since I obviously didn't have enough to do taking care of a toddler, I also made a new sign for the exterior of the preschool building.

I plan to add more closeup photos below in the future. Click on any of the images for a larger version.

It's about 20 feet wide in total, and a 10 foot ceiling.

A smaller mural that creates a framed area under the classroom window. A young cow paints cow spots while the parent cow offers encouragement!
